It might not feel like summer right now, given that at the time of writing a torrent of rainwater is buffeting most places across the UK, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be thinking about jazzing up your exteriors in readiness for when the great British summertime does finally decide to show its face again. Here at Tile Mountain, we’ve been busy expanding our Portico range of 20mm thick outdoor slab tiles, so you, the tile-buying public, can really get your alfresco style on point throughout the summer months. If you’re looking for a bit of exterior inspo then read on as we’re about to give you a rundown of our best outdoor tiles available from Tile Mountain this summer…
Hardblue
Patterned tiles have been a big trend in interiors over the past couple of years and this particular fashion shows no sign of slowing down and has made the jump to exterior tiles too. Hardblue Outdoor Slab Tiles feature a striking, yet not overbearing ,geometric surface design that is intended to be fitted together to create an expansive and slightly mind-bending (depending on how many cocktails you’ve had whilst looking at it) feature floor. It comes in the decor variants – Grey, Dark Grey and Graphite, and there’s also accompanying plain tiles in Grey, Graphite and White so you can match things up a bit and go for a bit of zoning. We’ve seen these teamed rather nicely with chrome and glass balustrades and they also look particularly impact in conjunction with neutral rendered exterior walls. Available from £37.99 per sqm.
Ohio
We’ve also seen a huge resurgence in natural stone effect flooring in exteriors recently, thanks partly to the sleek, contemporary designs that are coming out of the studios of large tile manufacturers that offer a fresh, maintenance-free take on traditional stone materials such as limestone, slate and sandstone. Our new Ohio range certainly taps into this ever-growing trend and offers the plus aesthetics of natural stone in a popular rectangular form-factor. Measuring in at at 20mm thick and rocking an expansive 900x600mm frame, these lush slab tiles are available in two colourways; Anthracite and Silver Grey and look great when used in modern alfresco dining and seating areas with angular edges/smooth surfaces. Available from £34.99 per sqm.
Vertige
Another innovative take on the whole ’tile that looks just like a popular flooring material but isn’t as expensive as the real thing’, er, thing can be found in the form of the Vertige range of wood effect outdoor slab tiles. Convincing wood effect exterior tiles have, until recently at least, been as rare as unicorn tears but that has changed thanks to the addition of our Vertige range. Effectively replicating the ever-popular engineered wood plank flooring seen in domestic and leisure settings across the world, these 20mm thick porcelain tiles make creating that sought-after timber flooring look in exterior areas a cinch. Best of all, they don’t need varnishing or treating every year like decking does and unlike the aforementioned, look awesome whether used next to traditional style buildings or ultra-modern architecture. Available from £39.99 per sqm.
Concretia
Another bobby dazzler in outdoor slab tile form here; our new Concretia range with its eye-catching decor tiles. Perfect for injecting a bit of pizzazz into outdoor seating/dining/general relaxing areas, these porcelain bad boys look fantastic when paired with chunky timber furniture and reclaimed railway sleeper beds. As with the Hardblue range, these outdoor slab tiles come in three colour variants: Black, White and Grey with each having a corresponding decor tile. The decor tiles in this range come in 12 possible surface patterns (you get a random selection in each box), making them great for creating that ‘outdoor rug’ effect that all the style mags are going crazy about right now and they can even be used to extend interior flooring into exterior areas for continuity. Available from £39.99 per sqm.
Lava
Make your guests erupt with envy with these vivacious volcanic influenced Lava Outdoor Slab Tiles. Offering an effective replication of volcanic rock thousands of years in the making and featuring a luxurious surface design that takes its style cues from genuine negrito marble. We’d recommend opting for Lava if you’re really looking to bring an opulent look to your exteriors – team them with 60s style statement piece furniture and dot a couple of date palm trees around the space et voila! It’s just like being in an exclusive Monaco beach club. Mai Tai’s all round! Available from £9.99 per sqm.
If that little lot doesn’t get your exterior style senses then we don’t know what will!
