In this edition of Trend Watch, we’re getting inspired by the colours of summer – think of bright floral shades, sky blues, pinks, sunny yellows and fresh greens (not the crispy-straw shade of ruined lawns and dried-out flower heads!). By the time you read this it will probably be pouring with rain again knowing our climate, so read on and get inspired for summer before the weather turns!
Green Themes
Our multi-shaded Raindrop Green Glass Mosaic tiles add a natural vibe to a colour scheme; the variegated shades of green are reminiscent of plant greens, sea greens and summer greens. Supplied in sheets measuring 300mm x 300mm, and also available in Red, and Grey options. Just the job to add cheerful colour, and perfect for a splashback – suited to use behind a hob.
Kitchen Greens
Open shelves and indoor plants are a match made in heaven, these pots are from a fab selection by Leaf Envy, and are just the job for brightening up the kitchen. If you need hints and tips on looking after your plants, there’s also a very handy help section here. And if you want to re-create this look, we would suggest some white tiles to contrast against greenery, such as our Piacenza Mix White Wall Tiles, which can be used horizontally or vertically.
Birds and Flowers
A row of summery cushions along a banquette seating arrangement in the kitchen – or dining room will be absolutely on trend for summer. This is the Mint Paradise Luxury Silk Cushion from the Ancient Grudge collection. The Spring Floral Luxury Cushion is pretty spectacular, too.
Aqua Vibes
Go for a restful shade of aqua for a soothing, relaxing look in the bathroom/shower room. These are Luken Aqua Pre-Scored Wall Tiles with a natural, shaded variation in colour. They’re also available in other shades (which are less summery, but just as beautiful!) of Marine, Grey, Basil and Beige. Each tile measures 600mm x 300mm and has the appearance of eight smaller tiles, and can be used vertically or horizontally.
Summer Colours
A foolproof way of adding extra colour to a very simple colour scheme is a roller blind; this is the Inky Botanical Leaf Green Roller Blind from Blinds2go – adding a zap of colour to a white room. For white wall tiles, get the look with our Underground White wall tiles, each tile measures 200mm x 100mm, with super-crisp edges for a neat, streamlined look. For a similar tub, try the Finsbury 1500mm Freestanding bath from our sister company, Bathroom Mountain.
Smaller Squares
Go for a soft, summery, small-format scheme with our Manacor Mint tiles in a square format, each tile measuring 100mm x 100mm. This gives a new look to the bathroom, we’ve seen lots of rectangular tiles, and it’s good to see some new, small squares! They’re ceramic, with a deep puddle glaze that provides a glowing, intense colour.
Summer Blooms
What could be more on-trend summery than wisteria? Re-create a sense of summer in your home with this Wisteria Botanical Green Wall Mural from Woodchip & Magnolia. Team with soft pinks, natural woven accessories and textures, and perhaps some wood flooring for a summery look. Try our Medio Storm Oak Engineered Flooring with a lacquered finish to get that summer style…
Close Inspection
We’re so pleased with the crackle-glaze on our Craquele range of tiles, we’re showing you the detail here, this is the Craquele Mint version. Perfectly on trend, as are all shades of green at the moment, and just right for a fresh look for both kitchens and bathrooms.
Seasonally Pink
We love the contrasts in this scheme – the ornate furniture, especially the bed, shown against a painted brick wall (and that gorgeous, patterned floor!) which is a beautiful display of our Aritz Pink Patterned Wall & Floor tiles, from the Luken collection of patterns and plains. Aritz in Rose is a pink-grey pattern on a white background, each tile measures 450mm x 450mm and has the appearance of four smaller tiles. Perfect for large and small spaces.
Dreamy Style
Just one multi-coloured and multi-patterned element in a scheme allows lots of future colour combinations. We love this Annie Wilma Floral Double Sided Quilt in delicious summery shades. Use it on its own as a throw, or pair it with a plain sheet for summer nights. from Antipodream, from the Society of Wanderers collection.
Yes to Yellow!
Yellow is another colour that is absolutely definitely on-trend this season, after languishing in the wilderness for a few years. Go for impact with a wallpaper mural to add bright style to your home. This is the Designer Wallpaper Mural Yellow Meadow from Wallsauce. Get that clean, pale and crisp look for the floor with our Architectural Iceberg Oak Luxury Click Vinyl Flooring.
Colour Combinations
Blush, yellow, cream and green are all definitely on trend and look perfect when combined – as shown here in this cushion, which is the Siena Rectangular Cushion from Walton & Co.
Pink Inspiration
A closer look at our Luken Pink Pre-Scored Wall Tiles, which could be the perfect choice to add a streak of summer colour to your latest project. Each tile is 600mm x 300mm, giving the appearance of eight smaller tiles.
Step into Summer
Create a soft summer scheme with our Manacor Blush Pink ceramic wall tiles in the 100mm x 100mm format (they’re also available in the rectangular Blush Pink 65 x 400mm format. This soft shade of pink is on trend, and is a very good pairing with gold, rose gold and brass bathroom fittings.
