Description

Waterproof membranes give a much better result than brushed on or filled sealants. From the world-renowned manufacturer Schluter, this Ditra PVC matting guarantees the best possible seal thanks to the ease of installation and consistent thickness. It is flexible and easy to cut - perfect for tiling into those awkward spaces. Schluter is a world-renowned and trusted manufacturer of tiling aids, so you can rest assured you're getting a fantastic product.

Schluter Ditra 25 is a polyethene membrane with a robust grid structure of square cavities, each cut to a dovetail. The matting uncouples the floor covering from the substrate to prevent tensions between the substrate and your tiles.

What's special about this matting?

> Waterproof membrane to help protect the substrate
> Easy installation and minimal curing time
> Comes from world-renowned manufacturer Schluter
> Grooved cutting grid (for easier cutting)
> Air release vents (to make it easier to backfill)

Is Ditra matting required for external porcelain tilesOur Advice

Hi Walter No, you do not require ditra matting for laying porcelain paving slabs Kind Regards Walls and Floors

Mr Peter Moss02/07/18
I believed that Walls and Floors recommended Hardy Backer. Is the Matting better and can it be used with underfloor heating? Our Advice

Hi Peter, The Hardiebacker and Ditra are used for different purposes so can't be directly compared. The Hardie is used to overboard wooden floors to make them more stable and reduce deflection (vertical movement). The Ditra Matting is used as a de-coupling membrane that would eliminate the effect of lateral movement only, which can be caused by expansion and shrinkage in the substrate. For underfloor heating installations, we also have the foam cored marmox boards (available seperately or as part of our wooden floor UFH kits) which will help stabalise the floor, create an insulation barrier to prevent heat loss, and can also decouple to a slight degree. Then whether you need an additional decoupler would depend on which tiles you are laying. Ceramic and porcelain should be fine without, but the additional layer of Ditra would be recommended with Natural Stone. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/underfloor-tile-thermostat-accessories-marmox-insulation-board https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/underfloor-tile-heating/comfort-zone-underfloor-heating-kit-for-wooden-floors If you would like to discuss your project in more detail, please call our sales team on 01536 314730 and we will be more than happy to help you.
