Q & A
Hi Liam Apologies for the confusion, this adhesive only takes approximately 3 hours to set. You can then grout your tiles and start using your fire once this has dried. Kind Regards Walls and Floors
Hi John Thanks for your query. Most adhesive comes in a grey shade but in between the tiles will need to be grouted. Grout comes in lots of different colours so you can choose the shade you like. Here is a link for you: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=ultracolour Kind Regards Walls and Floors
Hi Siobain This is just an adhesive. But for heated areas, we also recommend the Norcros 4 Into 1 Grout which is heat resistant up to 150'C: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/norcros-4-into-1-grout If you wish to discuss your project in more detail or to arrange a quotation, please call our sales team on 01536 314730 or request a call-back via the link below, and they will be more than happy to help you. https://ideas.wallsandfloors.co.uk/request-a-callback Regards Walls And Floors
Hi Mark, These boards are calcium silicate which can be tiled to directly with the Palace Heat Resist. As these type of boards can vary in design from one manufacturer to the next, it would be advisable to check the porosity to determine whether priming would be required before tiling. If they are extremely porous, prime with a diluted mixture of the Palace Tilers Primer: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/toolshed-preparation-products-palace-tilers-primer-1-litre Regards Walls And Floors
Hi Richard, Firstly, plaster skim can only hold a maximum of 20Kgs per sqm, whereas slate and a bed of adhesive would be closer to 28-30. So the skim will need to be removed. Plaster board can hold 32kgs so would be fine, but in heat sensitive areas as per Building Regulations Document J, it must be A1 Fire Rated which standard plasterboard isn't, so therefore classed as a combustible substrate. Replacing this with a non-combustible A1 board (such as Hardiebacker) and ensuring there is nothing combustible behind it, the minimum gap required to the wall is 150mm. If you wish to keep the standard plasterboard or if there are combustible materials in the wall structure, you will need to speak to the manufacturer of the stove for recommendations but may be a minimum required gap of around 400mm. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/hardibacker-board-james-hardie-tile-backer-board-9317 Providing the recommendations of the Building regulations are met, both natural slate and the heat resistant adhesive will be fine. Regards Walls And Floors
Hi Dave, This adhesive is suitable for all non-translucent natural stone, so will be fine with slate, as well as all ceramic and porcelain tiles. Regards Walls And Floors
Hi Phil, The maxiumum temperature this adhesive will operate at is 250oC. So is aimed for use around fire places, wood burners, stoves, hearths etc. If this temperature is likely to be exceeded we do not have a product suitable. However another company that specialises in fire resistant products is Vitcas: https://www.vitcas.com/ If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and we will be more than happy to assist you.
