Hi there, Could you please tell me the shelf life of the Kwik Grip Ice White. Many thanks, Tony Fuller. Our Advice

Hi Tony Thanks for your query. We advise that all adhesives and grouts are used within 12 months of the date of manufacture, which is the date on the bag. The item must also have been kept in suitable conditions. Kind regards Walls and Floors

Hi, we're purchasing the Gloss 150x75 White Rustic Metro Tiles - will the Kwik Grip Ice white adhesive be whiter than the tile? Our Advice

Hello Rebeca Thanks for your query. The adhesive is an off white so may look a little ivory next to the white tile, however, you won't see the adhesive as it's behind the tiles on the wall. Kind regards Anna

Hi What is the maximum tile size for this adhesive? ThanksOur Advice

Hi Tom We would suggest using a maximum tile size on the wall of 300x300mm for larger tiles or floor projects a cement based powder adhesive would need to be used. Kind regards Walls and Floors

Could you please help me with specifying the best adhesive for a 'tile on tile' application? I am a domestic customer who is about to tile over existing ceramic wall tiles in a kitchen. The existing 100 x 100mm tiles are sound and most have a matt glaze with the odd tile having a gloss glazed image. My new tiles are standard 200 x 100mm glazed ceramic (purchased from Walls & Floors). I notice that your web site points me to Kwik Grip Ice White adhesive (which appears to indicate that it can be used on existing ceramic tiles). Would you recommend that I use a primer beforehand and if so, which one? I am keen not to get anything that is too rapid as I am not a professional tiler! Can you help me please? Our Advice

Hi Chris This adhesive is fine for fixing tiles onto existing tiles. The most important things to consider are that firstly, the existing tiles a secure (any loose tiles should be removed) and secondly, they must be completely clean and free from grease/oil. To clean, a good scrub with the LTP Grimex will do the trick. Once they are rinsed and dry, no further primer or preparation is required, as the adhesive is polymer modified so will stick to both matt and gloss finishes. When tiling onto impervious surfaces such as existing tiles, this can extend the drying time of the adhesive. Although the tiles will be set, it can take a longer period of time to release all its moisture, and as such, would recommend that the tiles are left for a minimum of 3 days before grouting. Hi, Is this adhesive suitable for an alcove where an electric fire would sit, or would it be best to get a heat resistant mortar? Our Advice

Hi Emma It depends on the maximum potential temperature of where the tiles are being installed. This adhesive is suitable for use up to 90 degrees, which from experience, electric fire surrounds rarely reach due to the way the heat is directed. But if the temperature is likely to get hotter, we would recommend the Palace Heat Resist adhesive: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/palace-heat-resistant-tile-adhesive-10-kg If possible, run the appliance and attach a thermometer to the intended area, and monitor the temperature before making your final decision.
